Kubernetes CPU and memory units converter
Convert Kubernetes resource quantities: millicores ↔ cores, and Mi, Gi, M, G and bytes. Type a value the way you write it in YAML —
500m, 1.5, 512Mi, 1G.
Mi vs M: the trap
Mi, Gi are powers of two (1 Mi = 1,048,576 bytes); M, G are powers of ten (1 M = 1,000,000 bytes).
512M is about 488 Mi — 4.6% less memory than 512Mi. A lowercase m on memory means millibytes: 512m is half a byte,
a classic typo that makes a pod unschedulable or OOM-killed.
CPU
1 CPU = 1000m = one vCPU (a hyperthread on most cloud instances). The smallest unit is 1m; 0.1 and 100m are the same.
